Thermopsis villosa, commonly called Carolina lupine, is an upright, clump-forming perennial which is native to the Carolinas and Georgia. Typically grows 3-4' (less frequently to 5') tall. Features erect, dense, terminal, spike-like racemes of yellow, lupine-like flowers which bloom in early summer. Compound, trifoliate, grayish-green foliage (oval leaflets to 3" long). Seed pods are villous (having long, shaggy hairs), hence the species name. Thermopsis is often commonly called false lupine because of its similarity to the true lupines. This species was formerly called and is sometimes still sold as Thermopsis caroliniana.

Spectacular ornamental herb with aromatic light-green leaves that are smothered by snow white flowers in summer. Great for filling between stepping stones. Works well in mixed beds or in pots when allowed to trail over the edges. Attracts butterflies. Herbaceous perennial.

This low-growing perennial thyme with small elliptical green leaves bears fuchsia-red blooms in summer. A natural for the rock garden or between stepping stones.   Attractive to bees.

Flat-growing variety. Tiny dark green leaves, dark purple in fall; bright lavender-purple flowers. Easily divided; even small pieces will take root. 

‘Pink Chintz’ features clusters of small, salmon-pink flowers blooming above a carpet of aromatic, fuzzy, gray-green foliage. Deer resistant. Prefers moist, well-drained soil. Drought tolerant once established. Use Pink Chintz Creeping Thyme as filler between stepping stones, along walkways and as underplanting for shrubs. Tolerates varying amounts of foot traffic.

This plant is everything nice, dramatic shiny, lacy leaves with painted, heavily marked centers are seen in summer to winter. Lightly fragrant spring flowers are pink with a white interior. It's a semi-runner.

This lovely, compact, mounding plant has deeply cut, bright green leaves that are centered with deep maroon to brown that extends into the veins. It produces soft pink to white blooms in mid to late spring.

 It features small, creamy white, lily-like flowers (1” long) with burgundy-purple spotting and blotching. Flowers appear in clusters in the upper leaf axils and stem tips.

‘Samurai’ is a compact form that is particularly noted for its attractive creamy golden-edged foliage. It typically grows in a clump to 12-18” tall, but will spread over time to 36” wide. Foliage provides interesting variegated color to shady landscape areas prior to the late summer bloom of the contrasting purple spotted flowers with yellow throats.
