Echinacea purpurea, commonly called purple coneflower, is a coarse, rough-hairy, herbaceous perennial that is native to moist prairies, meadows and open woods of the central to southeastern United States (Ohio to Michigan to Iowa south to Louisiana and Georgia). It typically grows to 2-4' tall. Showy daisy-like purple coneflowers (to 5" diameter) bloom throughout summer atop stiff stems clad with coarse, ovate to broad-lanceolate, dark green leaves. Good fresh cut or dried flower. The dead flower stems will remain erect well into the winter, and if flower heads are not removed, the blackened cones may be visited by goldfinches or other birds that feed on the seeds.

Flower petals are first held horizontally, then relax as the flowers age and the cone-like centers become more pronounced. The bright purple-pink, daisy-like flowers on sturdy stems make great cut flowers. An ideal choice for adding color to sunny, waterwise borders and mixed containers. An herbaceous perennial.

This echinacea has narrow, dark green leaves with large, daisy-like flowers. The flowers have drooping pale purple petals with coppery-orange center cones. 

Large, rose-pink flowers on compact plants with long bloom time. Flowers from late June to first 
frost.

The large ivory flowers of White Compact Prairie Splendor echinacea are held atop dwarf 18 in. tall plants. Bloom begins 2-3 weeks prior to other echinaceas.

This native perennial has showy, daisy-like flowers that grow to 5" in diameter, and are a purple/pink color. Blooms last all summer atop stiff stems with dark green leaves. 

Like others in this genus, 'Gateway' is no exception in its power to attract butterflies with its huge, bright mauve-pink flower clusters atop deep wine red stems. July to September bloom makes 'Gateway' a bold and dramatic display when planted with Rudbeckia 'Autumn Sun' or tall ornamental grasses.

 Has the vivid color of 'Gateway' at a height more appropriate for small gardens. 'Little Joe 'is also more compact in a container too.

Flat-topped clusters of smally, fluffy white flowers grow above dark green foliage from late summer to fall.
